This episode begins in Kahana State Park with two hunters trying to hunt down a wild boar. Just as they are about to shoot their target a young woman comes running from the jungle crying and screaming for help.
Meanwhile Chin Ho and Steve are fishing together and trading stories about Steve’s dad. Steve decides to share the secrets of the CHAMP box with Chin Ho to see if he can help with a number he found on the back of a photo. Chin Ho recognizes it as an old case file numbering system they used before they went digital. They get a call from Kono about the woman (Erica) found running in the jungle with her nightie on. She is a woman here on her Honeymoon and doesn’t remember how she ended up in the jungle or if she was abducted. Her new husband is nowhere to be found.
She remembers taking a long walk on the beach with her husband and then going back to the room with him and going to sleep. She woke up on the cold floor in a room. She was bound but somehow got out and ran. Danno decides they need to back off questioning Eric to avoid traumatizing her. Her Mother-in-law has just flown in from San Francisco and starts causing a commotion in the hallway. She tells Steve that if if her son (Jake) is missing then Erica probably had something to do with it. This obviously raises suspicions. The MIL tells them that her son married this woman after only 6 months of acquaintance and he refused to sign a prenuptial agreement despite his wealth. Erica has a huge amount of debt and she works off jobs and bounces around. She took a temp job at a law firm and 6 months later managed to marry its senior partner.
The 5-0 team discovers that Erica called a local hotel 5 times before their abduction but she swears it must have been her husband. They go to the hotel and find lots of pictures of the married couple. The room owner interrupts them and tells them he is an investigator. He was hired by the MIL and he followed them for a week until Jake spotted him. He was also convinced that Erica did in fact love her husband.
Chin Ho and Kono find evidence that acetone gas was piped into the couple’s room via the adjacent room. They enter that room and find Jake’s body lying in the bed, apparently strangled. Steve breaks the news to Erica.
Meanwhile Chin Ho and Kono get a lead from the coroner who remembers other cases where newlywed couples were abducted, the men were strangled, and the women were later found mutilated and discarded in remote wilderness. Chin Ho researches this lead and finds that 3 couples were murdered over 7 days in a tropical locales not far away so they are dealing with a serial killer.
Thanks to the investigator’s photos Kono finds a strange man in the background of 3 of the photos, all taken in different places at different times. The team knows they have to be looking at the killer as he stalked the couple. They also find the place where he held Erica with surgical tools and a bottle of morphine. Kono tracks the bottle and finds it was stolen off of a cruise ship. This leads them to believe the killer is traveling by cruise ship and  when they look at passenger manifests they find their guy. Steve asks Kono to hold up the cruise ship’s departure as it was set to leave in an hour. Steve and Danno dress down to look like tourists and go aboard the ship. Their man is not in his room so they enlist the help of the crew to search the ship.
They corner the suspect but he appears to have jumped off the ship. Steve does not believe that this guy will lay low. Instead he will move on to another target, which turns out to be accurate. Steve and Danno have a lead on who he may go after though. They spot the suspect leaving a hotel parking garage with a female victim and they pursue him. They end up managing to save the victim and the killer, who was injured by Steve, jumps off a cliff.
At the episodes end Chin Ho tells Steve that he pursued the weird case file and finds out it was lost or stolen because it isn’t there anymore. BUT he does tell Steve the day it was opened and that day coincides with the day Steve’s mother was killed in a car accident. Except it wasn’t actually an accident, it was a homicide.
**************************
This was an awesome episode in my opinion. I was actually hooked on the story and the tidbits with Steve’s parents were really intriguing. Can’t wait for more!
Oh and of course you noticed another person from Moonlight in this episode right? Last episode a vampire reference and now a guest who used to be on the show…
Tiffany thank you for everything, I love Alex and whether it is repeated or not, I love seeing him in action. May God bless you all, and have a Christmas full of happiness and love, I want to kiss him personally. I LOVE ALEX.
Congrats to Scott for his GG nomination!! Of course we all know that Scott wouldn’t be so wonderful in H5O if it weren’t for Alex–there needs to be a straight man! Most of Dano’s tirads are directed at Steve–and Steve’s comebacks are great too. Yeah, it may need another whole season before the GG recognizes H5O and Alex.
CHERI, come on now, Sott is a great actor(have you seen him in any other movies?) his character here is pretty much how he is in reall life. he’s not bad looking either. Let’s give him the credit he deserves, and not take away his thuder. I do agree with you that he and Alex play off of each other very well. 🙂
ok… Golden Globe Nominations…

and um, Scott is up for ..
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A SERIES, MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION
SCOTT CAAN HAWAII FIVE-O …
also on cbs.com Hawaii Five-0 page… “Scott Earns Golden Globe Nod!” check it out!8)
I’m speechless. I find the character of Danno actually bugs me. So far it’s all about Danno. I guess you can tell I’m an Alex O’Loughlin fan and not a Scott Caan fan. IMPO, Alex is the better actor and should have been nominated. Sorry I’m just biased.;-(
Unfortunately, the character of McGarrett (O’Loughlin) is the more grounded role while Dan Williams (Caan) is the “fish out of water” character trying to adapt to the new surroundings of Hawaii and deal with his divorce so currently his character is the one standing out for stories.
As the series continues I would hope that McGarrett will become more prominent as he adapts to the civilian world of police work. It does bother me a bit to see Danny tell Steve how to behave as a cop. Also, McGarrett is still addressed as a naval commander. Isn’t McGarrett a civilian now?
I believe Alex O”Loughlin will eventually get his stories (it appears starting in January) and by the next time the Golden Globes come up again, he’ll be recognized. Until then, it is Scott Caan’s turn to shine.
Thank you Cylb, you said it all beautifully. I guess I’m just impatient, as I’ve been an Alex fan since Moonlight and just want him to get more recognition. 🙂

Have voted again and again. Hope it helps…
This episode of Hawaii 5-0 really rocked and Alex O’Loughlin
is just and always will be ULTRA hot and sexy!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kelly Scovell (Green Bay,WI)
As usual, I couldn’t take my eyes off Alex.
p.s. everyone – I found the Criminal Minds Big Wheel episode on ITunes
Robyn, That episode really showed that Alex is a great actor. His part being a demented “KILLER” but still caring for that little boy and dying in the end, he showed his great ability to act !!!!! 😆
I cry everytime I see Big Wheel. Alex actually makes Vincent seem sympathetic and remorseful and to me when he dies it’s the most upsetting moment in the show.
Like I’ve said before, Alex has raised the bar on his acting ability. I am now very critical of other actors because of him, in fact, IMHO there isn’t anyone on television or movies that I think can act as well as Alex. I can see Alex play any role and excel at it. I know, I know, I’m biased, but I can’t help it….okay.
Tiffany, thank you for this detailed update. I enjoyed the suspense and pacing of this episode. To Alex and everyone associated with H50- Congratulations on your People’s Choice nomination!!
What an awesome episode!! Monday night was also the night for my beloved New England Patriots but there was never a doubt that I would choose to watch H50.
The beginning was great with the shirtless scene. When Steve said to Chin I want to show you something, I imagined he was talking to me and my mind began to wander….. Sigh!
The scene in the car with Steve and Danno was priceless with the song Sexy Eyes. That song definately suits Steve. Such gorgeous, sexy eyes and sexy everything else!
I love all the Steve and Danno scenes. They are so good together. Can’t wait to see where the investigation into his mother’s murder goes. It was also nice to get a little history on Chin. I wonder if we’ll learn more about his former fiance.
So here is a thought on a storyline. Steve has to go undercover as an Australian swimsuit model with Danny as his photographer. The Austrailian accent, lots of bathing suit shots, lots of beautiful smiles for the camera and the banter that could go on between Steve and Danny could be priceless. My mind is wandering again………
I am always looking forward to Monday nights. This is my absolute favorite show and Alex is my absolute favorite everything!!!!!! I wish him all the best with this show. I love everything about him. I love watching him in interviews- not just handsome and sexy but also sweet, kind, funny and caring.
Much love to Alex and the whole cast of H50.
Thank-you Tiffany for the wonderful update! You are awesome!
for sure… of aussie accent… and well… throw in a new englander accent to which well don’t get me wrong … yet think about it… I wonder what if as to accents go… how alex would do w/ trying say a Maine one… very likely no problem… yet um, well there is always New Hampshire one. its there…, yet um, not always heard as much as of each of the accents of new england are… its the quiet one…
just a thought….
Did anyone else notice the scraped area under Alex”s clavicle? I wonder if it was from the fight scene in the sand?
Great episode. A guy never looked so good carrying a string of fish. Loved the part where Steve kicked the door in (swoon) and Dano told him you are an animal. Should be interesting investigating into Steve’s mothers death. Maybe a couple of mellower episodes to give the guys a break from all the action. Heard they are working so hard and are so tired. Love to all of you guys and take care of yourselves. Thank you Tiffany.
Danno called him a “Neanderthal” animal–LOL!! I laughed so hard I cried! Steve cracks me up–no patience with anything standing in his way. Danny tries to play it by the book–he wanted to get a key to open the door. But why wait for a key when you can just kick it in–LOL!!!
A good episode but I fell asleep at the very end. It was when CBS had that huge segment of commercials. I was pretty exhausted from work and I could have kicked myself. Luckily, I have On Demand and I caught the episode without all the commercials. This is supposed to start a story arc on Steve’s family and Mary Ann’s kidnapping. I think this will be very good.
and yup… its starting w/ christmas episode this monday (dec 13)., and Victor Hesse/killed McGarrett’s Dad, back from the waters deep… & up to no darn good … check it out. ..
..
and yup that one who killed steve’s dad is back from his water grave…. is back ….
just checked cbs.com and yup the clip is there….

Merci !!
Tiffany, I was worried, because I was downloading the episode 11 of hawaii five him and not found, you reassured me, thank you, I’m more in love with Alex, he’s very beautiful, I pray to God that everything right in his life, prfissional and personal it is a wonderful actor, intelligent and charismatic. MUCH I LOVE ALEX kisses.
I think the whole show is cool we the two guys are in the car
Wow, Alex shirtless. What wonderful tattoo’s and what a sexy body. Love it, love it!! Yes great episode. Now we have the twist of Steve’s mother. Hope they bring it back soon. Hawaii-Five-O just keeps getting better and better. Thanks Tiffany for the update. Love ya Alex, you roc.
Better and better is the way I’d say it too….I musta missed the comment (background noise) about Steve’s father being a suspect in his mother’s death….right Kate…that wouldn’t make sense and surely Chin wouldn’t blurt that sorta comment out without a reason. Tiffany, I just made a couple comments on site about those “screen caps”…to me they are almost a waste of time…you NEVER see Alex face up close ..even enlarging photo…want more up close and personal like Moonlight…..Oh well, just my opionion. I don’t know where my comments went but they were accepted????? AGain, I’m not a computer whizz but I try. :woot: Love from Alex’s Most Loving Fan in the World
Maybe I heard it wrong. It sounded like Chin Ho said it was a homicide and your father was being investigated. I guess he could have said and your father was investigating but that would be unrealistic as the husband of the victim would be allowed nowhere near the case. Unless he meant after after the case went cold.
I understood Chin to say that Steve’s dad was “investigating” the murder, not that he was “being investigated.” I’ll have to go back and watch it again (sigh!). Thank goodness for my VCR. And did I catch Danny calling Steve “Babe” again?? Great episode–anytime Alex is shirtless is my idea of Dreamland
for sure the pieces are falling into place… from the photo of the burned out car, to that of well….the postmark on the letter/letters… and too that darn key… ok i may be winging this way out of left field.. sort of speak.. yet that key is sort of like that of a key that would of been possibly used as to unlock that of antique lock say of all things attic in an very old to which around here would be that of old new england like victorian sort of …house.
hey maybe its a key that belongs not to like alex/steve said any lock of any the doors there in his dad’s house… yet maybe a key that unlocks an very old house indeed that well ok going out on another limb … steve/alex was never told or heard any mention of growing up and/or, ok another limb further out… um, maybe steve/alex did and yet well locked away somewhere in that head of his… & yup just hasn’t well…of something like word or something someone said to which included that one word…
just a very wild guess and then some I know… and yet well who knows that is other than the writters, producer(s), and of thoses who well u get my meaning…
ok, ok… so a bit of wild thought.. and too.. what if by chance and to say we’ll just have to stay tuned to find out… no matter how many of many seasons it could just possibly take and then some right? we won’t mind will we….  of course had to throw that 1 in for good measure of course…
what do you think? ;-(
Wow it was great to see Peyton List. She was originally on As The World Turns several years ago. I also enjoyed her episode of Click on Moonlight.
Hawaii Five-O is just getting better and better, now we have the mystery about how his Mother was murdered instead of dying in a car accident. I’m glad CBS is following through with the story from the first episode.
I also like the part where they were going to book a suspect and Steve looked at Danny and Danny said “don’t say it” (you know “book-em Danno”) and Steve had this cute look on his face that was Priceless
Thanks, Tiffany, for all of your updates on all of the episodes. Oh yeah, I recognized Peyton List, the lead guest actress in this episode. She was in one of my fave Moonlight episodes – “Click”! It was a great episode. I like that they are finally going to delve into the mystery surrounding McGarrett’s parents. I can’t wait to see how it unfolds as the series continues.
I loved this episode also. Who was the guest star that was in Moonlight? I always focus on Alex, so unless it was one of the main characters, I would not have noticed. I can see great things happening with story lines. So excited for the show! Love it!
Ella, It was Erica the wife who was in Moonlight. Mick was her bodyguard in an episode of Moonlight.
Thanks! The whole time I was watching the show I thought she looked familiar, but I could not place the face. Keep up the good work!
Of course i saw the show wouldnt miss it.i love the whole cast but of course alex shirtless is awesome…has anyone been voting for h50 for peoples choice plz do!!!
Yes, I have been voting for H50 as new series. It was voted No.1 in new series. So hopefully Alex will be at People’s Choice awards in January 2011.
i just loved hawaii five o last night it was a great one but all of the episodes are great and alex and chin work great together and loved the shirtless on the beach i hope they show more
Last night’s episode had a little of everything and was very fast-paced and well-written. I really like how Danny and Steve distracted the killer with thier bickering. That was a fantastic scene. And I do like the little tid-bit about Steve’s mother. Wow, good stuff!
I really enjoy Hawaii Five-O and each episode gets better. Think they should make a movie of it so it can be longer. The batter between Danno & Steve make it all the more interesting. I have loved the music at the beginning of each show since the original story. I think it sets the tempo for things to come. However, yes that old however, no matter how much I enjoy this show, MOONLIGHT is still my favorite of all time. The only other series that come close is Stargate SG1. Hope H5O is in for a very long haul. :bandit:
I saw this episode last night it was great as usual. I love that they gave the tease at the end about Steve’s Mother maybe having been murdered and his Father investigating it. I see this coming in a future show, maybe when they have ratings sweeps I believe it’s called February or May Sweeps (not sure) Only thing I hate it to be in May(too long a time to wait).especially we all know how they love to leave cliffhangers for us,which mean we would have to wait until a new show in September. Oh please no! ;-(
I do have to disagree with your summary here: “Except it wasn’t actually an accident, it was a homicide that Steve’s father was a suspect in.” Steve’s father wasn’t a suspect, he was investigating the accident as a homicide.
I totally agree. Awesome episode! Very suspenseful with a ton of twists and turns! Love Steve and Chin together. The end was SO POWERFUL!
And of course, we did get to see our favorite guy shirtless!
