Here is our second recap/review of the season and thanks to Susan Schoppe for another excellent job! Episode 7.02 was called No ke ali’i Wahine a me ka aina and is translated to For Queen and Country.
Now on to the recap:
As the second episode in our new season begins we find Steve and Danny in the living room of Alicia Brown, a retired FBI profiler. Steve explains that they need her help to find the islands chess piece killer, he tells her this person broke into his home and left one of the pieces there. She tells Steve that she is retired and has no interest in coming out of retirement even for a short time. As Steve continues to push for her help, she does tell him that she believes that the killer admires Steve and considers him an adversary, unlike the others he’s killed which he regards as pawns. She bases this theory on the type of chess piece the killer left for Steve as it has a higher purpose in the game of chess. She warns them not to underestimate this man. In one last attempt to gain her help, Steve leaves the chess piece on her table as they leave, which she doesn’t find until after they’ve left…..Leave it to Steve to play head games with a pyschological profiler… Good move on Steve’s part.
Later that night at a very exclusive party, enter a suave and charming man who proceeds straight back to a locked bedroom, which like any good British spy is able to unlock and enter. He finds the safe, opens it and retrieves a small statue filled with diamonds. It is of course discovered missing before he can leave so he plants it on his female accomplice before he is detained by the bodyguards. He is escorted back to the room and questioned. When it looks like his time is up, he takes out all three bodyguards and leaves. His name……Harry Langford.
At Chin’s house we see Chin attempting to braid Sara’s hair, this is adorable and amusing at the same time. While Chin tells Sara that he hope’s he can remember how to do it again tomorrow, Sara is suddenly sad. She tells Chin that she wants to stay and live with him and that he is her family. She puts her arms around Chin’s neck for a long hug. Chin looks very happy and comfortable with that. Is Chin changing his mind about keeping Sara?
We next see Kono at the apartment of Harry’s accomplice, where she is explaining to Steve and Danny that the woman was found strangled.
Back at HQ, the team is informed Harry’s DNA was found on the body. Now with Harry’s DNA Five O does research and finds out info on Harry’s background including that he is a MI 6 British Argent.
Alicia Brown (our profiler) pays Steve a visit returning the chess piece to him telling him that his ploy worked and that although she is still retired she did some digging. She hands Steve files saying that the person they are looking for was being investigated by an HPD officer off the record because there was never enough evidence to bring a case against him. She wished them luck and left. Grover tells Steve they just got a make and location on Harry Langford and everyone rushes out!
We next see Steve and Danny in a car chase after Harry and our much awaited cargument begins. Danny eludes to throwing up if Steve continues driving like that, Steve tells Danny to man up, and Danny is back, to the “liver thing” again. Danny needs to come up with some different material, don’t you think?
As the chase continues through the streets, Harry gains enough distance to abandon the car and run into an industrial building where Steve is hot on his trail. As Steve searches, Harry suddenly appears and the fight is on. Steve is good showing off a lot of good moves reminding us of his infamous last stand with Wofat in the 100th episode. However, Steve is just not up to his usual standard after the operation and as it looks like Harry may be getting the upper hand, Danny comes to the rescue and Harry is taken into custody.
At HQ, Jerry is examining Harry’s personal effects, cuff links, sunglasses, watch, and pen all of which have hidden uses, as Jerry is explaining this to Grover, Grover picks up the pen and Jerry tells him he doesn’t know what the pen does yet, with that, a stream of liquid acid shoots out and Grover looks at Jerry and says “your welcome ” and in typical Jerry form, his reaction is priceless!
Meanwhile in the rendition room, Steve and Danny question Harry who reveals his government is looking for a terrorist responsible for bombings in Europe. As it turns out the US is looking for him as well and like usual the first guy in the blue room isn’t the one that did it. Harry goes on to explain the he believes this man is the main terrorist planning a cyber attack, which is why he stole the diamonds, to exchange for information on a flash drive.
Arriving at the party in style, Danny and Kono begin the first step in obtaining information on the location of the main terrorist, Kono being the bait! It works and we next see Steve hanging the bad guy with the info upside down from the rooftop of a building. Steve is back to his old badass ways but this time it does not even make Danny flinch as he discussed the lobster he is eating from the party. Steve and Harry’s tactic works of course and they get the info, and everyone’s off to Europe.
This brings us to Steve and Danny on a private plane with Harry flying the plane. Steve looks very uncomfortable which is understandable since his last plane ride didn’t end well. We did however see a mini plane-gument ! And even Harry chimed in.
Upon arriving, the boys learn from Chin, Kono, & Grover that nuclear reactors were the targets all along in Europe and one is starting to fail which will lead to all the rest and a chain reaction. In true form, Steve gets the information from a suspect Harry’s government is holding on the location of the terrorist starting the melt downs. Steve, Danny, & Harry break in, shoot the bad guy, shut down the computer which stops the meltdown. All is good so they think! Steve and Danny then see Harry leaving and discover they have been played and that Harry has taken the flash drive with the info on it. Harry is up to more than they know.,
Harry, now in Pakistan, sets up an exchange for the flash drive in exchange for the location of the terrorist. While Harry is on his way to the location, Steve and Danny intercept Harry having learned Harry’s motive was revenge for having killed Harry’s wife.
They all proceed to the hidden location together and they find the terrorist. With Navy Seal precision, Steve leads them through the compound killing off all that get in the way. Although Harry comes close to getting his revenge and killing the man who was responsible for his wife’s death but Steve stops him. In the instant he looks away the terrorist goes for a hidden gun and Steve shoots him dead.
The final scene brings us to Buckingham Palace where our three heroes receive a medal from the Queen of England!
I would give it a 7 out of 10 as it was a fun watch but the last scene with the queen seemed a little far fetched. However, it was certainly fast paced, the acting was excellent, and the new wardrobe outside of Hawaii looked rather fine.
Until next week…
I agree the Queen scene was far fetch, What in the world the writers were thinking to write such stupid and lame scene. No wonder the ratings were not so good for the show this past weekend.
The episode was like a Bond movie in a TV format, I liked some things others I found very exxagerating, Harry on the other hand played well his scenes.
What I did not enjoy the most was again the reference about Catherine, it seems now Steve misses her, loves her and care for her I mean why he did not tell her that when she was present at more availablem, why wait until now to really know what his feelings are for Catherine? This stoyr needs to end, the contstant dragging of that story is tiring and tedious. Is like the writers really do not know what to do with the her character.
I mean instead of keep draggning her story to the show, regardless of her leaving and returning, put a a stop once and for all. ot lacks professionalism. It make Steve look like a fool.
